Job Description
Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for Chief of Party on an anticipated USAID-funded program in Kenya.
The anticipated five-year USAID-funded STAWI Activity will seek to improve water security in target counties in northern (Turkana, Marsabit, Samburu, Isiolo, Wajir, Garissa) and southeastern (Taita Taveta, Makueni, Kitui) Kenya by working closely with county governments and water service providers.
Summary
The anticipated objectives of the STAWI Activity are to improve water resources and service governance, strengthen water service delivery, improve access to and management of water for productive use, and integrate activities within collaboration, learning, and adaptation-based framework.
The potential position will be based in Kenya for the life of project.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, management, and general technical direction for the entire Activity, ensuring an integrated vision among different technical components and actors.
- Identify potential risks to successful Activity implementation and recommend and implement appropriate adjustments.
- Oversee contract management and technical implementation.
- Serve as the primary liaison with USAID, the Government of Kenya, and other national and sub-national partners, responding to technical and administrative matters and adjusting programs and operations in response to USAID’s technical direction.
- Manage in-country team and ensure the development of high-quality deliverables and the provision of strong technical support to project partners.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree (or higher) in a relevant field preferred.
- At least five (5) years of demonstrated experience in senior program management roles, including the direct supervision of professional and support staff and direct engagement of high-level government counterparts.
- At least five (5) years of experience working on USAID or other donor-funded projects.
- Strong professional experience across STAWI technical objectives, including water resources management and governance, water service delivery, water accessibility for productive use, and collaboration learning and adaptation.
- Relevant professional experience in Kenya, and strong experience working with county-level governance structures, as well as relevant national and sub-national entities.
- Professional fluency in English required.
