Our client is a well-established agricultural inputs supplier. They seek to hire an efficient and effective Procurement & Logistics Manager who will lead the procurement department in the development and implementation of cost effective and efficient procurement and logistics systems.

Title: Procurement & Logistics Manager

Location: Nairobi

Salary: 150K – 200K

Responsibilities

  • Support new product development
  • Facilitate product knowledge for internal staff, stockists and farmers
  • Facilitate product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and production schedules
  • Manage and develop the purchasing function of the organisation, putting in place cost effective and efficient procurement and distribution systems
  • Develop, review and update departmental policies and plans in line with the organization’s strategic objectives, industrial standards and global trends;
  • Manage the purchasing information and systems
  • Manage and develop the existing and potential supplier pool and update the Approved Vendor List
  • Supervise Procurement & Logistics staff and identify their development and training needs
  • Effective and proactive liaison with other departments as necessary to forecast, budget and plan to meet purchases deadlines
  • Lead all key supplier relationships, negotiate with local and international suppliers and set up frame contracts
  • Manage Request for Quotation, Initiations to Bid, Requests for Proposal and co-ordination of their timely dispatch
  • Assist with coordination with the selected bidder to ensure completion of administrative processes including bid security, contract award notice and that contract documents are distributed accordingly, where necessary
  • Establish and rationalize Supplier Agreements, identify new opportunities as well as seek ways to improve efficiencies and ensure purchasing compliance
  • Review purchasing arrangements with suppliers including price, delivery, performance and discounts to achieve reduced supply chain costs to the company
  • Drafting and negotiation of contracts and subsequent administration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement/Supply chain/Commerce or a related field
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies
  • At least 7 years’ experience leading a busy procurement department at supervisory level
  • Good negotiation, analytical, presentation and communication skills
  • Experience in retail, wholesale & distribution with good understanding of import processes
  • Ability to create and maintain effective vendor relationships
  • Good knowledge of contracting principles
  • Ability to communicate information in a clear, well organized and professional manner
  • Solid organization and analytical skills, ability to work with processes, numbers and statistics
  • Able to uphold and respect procurement ethics and to conduct activities with integrity
