Our client is a Building and Civil Engineering Company Registered in Kenya and also registered with National Construction Authority under Building Works Category – Class 2 and Road Works Category – Class 3 . The position of Project Manager is responsible for providing managerial and technical oversight in all projects being undertaken by the company. The holder of the position is expected to give directions to both the technical and administration departments with the sole aim of ensuring efficiency, economy and quality in execution of all projects being undertaken by the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Being a brand ambassador of the client company at all times 
  • Manage project costs to ensure that profit margins are defended or increased
  • Seek and prospect new business for the firm
  • Ensure Tender documents are filled correctly, competitively, and are delivered on time 
  • Ensure all works contracted to the company meets all contractual and legal requirements before execution of contract documents with the advice of the company legal advisors.
  • Ensure that a budget and material schedule for each project are prepared before dispatch of ground Teams.
  • Ensure effective, efficient and proper contract administration of all projects assigned to the company.
  • Ensure programs of works and the contract period is adhered to at all times.
  • As a team leader, ensure implementation of all projects are executed as per the detailed schedules and specifications given by the consultants/client. 
  • Ensure that each project enjoys a good working relationship between all the project stakeholders and has all the necessary regulatory approvals and registrations.
  • Ensuring that all variations in the course of project implementations are documented and billed according to the conditions of contract
  • In Liaison with the Technical teams, ensure that works assigned to all the teams are accurately and properly done on site and meets all the required standards and specification.
  • Ensure that all works executed meets laid down company Quality standards and with the assistance of the Projects Engineer, lead in monitoring and supervising of subcontractors to ensure adherence to set works guidelines
  • Prepare and Issue site safety guidelines and with assistance of the Project Engineer ensure that all project site supervisors follow strictly and without fail laid down safety procedures.
  • Prepare, submit and present daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual progress reports (present to the managing director and the board of directors)
  • Represent the client in site meetings with Consultants and client
  • Monitoring and reviewing progress and performance of projects to ensure they meet laid down and predetermined company objectives
  • Ensure Valuations of works done are issued to the Project QS or the accounts department where the case may be for invoicing before the 15 th of every month.
  • With the assistance of the Projects Engineer and Procurement Department monitor suppliers to ensure they adhere to the set guidelines on material quality, quantity and cost.
  • Identify, implement and benchmark on best construction practices.
  • Develop and promote training programs of both technical and administrative staff. Create and promote motivational programs for the site project teams to enhance and build their technical and safety capacity.
  • Ensuring delivery of exceptional customer experience by handling queries at various levels.
  • Schedule and coordinate monthly meetings with project implementation teams to ensure smooth workflow of all organisation programs and monitor proper use of all the company assets and resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or Structural/Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 3yrs Experience in an active role in the Buildings and civil works Construction Industry. (Preferably in a Contractor Company)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent Organisational skills
  • Exposure to IT environment including projects planning and design software’s  
  • Holds a valid driving licence
