Our client is a leader in fertilizer granulation production with its first manufacturing plant in Sub Saharan Africa located in Kenya. They seek to hire a Procurement and Logistics officer to handle all the functions relating to Purchasing and Supplies for the company.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Liaise with suppliers to build relationships, ensure the best pricing and source alternative suppliers as required.
- Source products and services for the company.
- Ensure inventory is well managed by assisting with cycle counts and stocktakes.
- Work with providers to ensure that the most economical methods of transport are used for importation.
- Liaise with the Accounts and Production teams to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
- Maintain information in the sage 300 system and ensure its update and accurate.
- Maintaining relationships with suppliers while continually scouting for additional vendors
- Purchase goods using Sage ERP 300 system as required in an accurate and timely manner.
- Submit stock reports on a daily basis from Sage ERP 300 for review and planning.
- To monitor and manage all materials re-order levels.
- Work with all the departments before purchasing any material.
- Raising Goods Receipt notes and raising any issue with the suppliers.
- Visiting Supplier Plants and Distribution Centre’s
- Maintaining and Reviewing Records of Bought Items
- Negotiation of Various Contracts
- Warehouse Management and control
- Submit supplier contracts for review and approval
- Reconciling stock reports on a daily basis.
- Negotiate credit terms with prospective suppliers
- Source for different providers as per the need of the company
- Conduct Supplier Assessment and Evaluation accurately and on time.
- Adhere to ISO Quality System framework
- Supervision of the warehouse clerks and purchasing team and delegating tasks across departments when necessary.
- Ensure high quality of goods purchased and received
- Any other task as allocated by the immediate supervisor
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Procurement/ Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
- In possession of supply chain or purchasing certificate/diploma/certified professional.
- Outstanding Professional Performance
- At least 8 Years Working Experience in a busy procurement department preferably in a manufacturing industry
- Experience with Sage 300 ERP
- Keen to detail and the ability to maintain very high level of accuracy.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong bias on warehouse Management
- Sound knowledge in clearing and forwarding
- Strong coordination skills in warehouse and transport logistics
- Proficient in both verbal and written English.
- Good organisational skills i.e. able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- An excellent team player who meets and exceeds team goals.
- Self-motivated, positive and willing to learn and adapt to market changes
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold the integrity of the company
