Job Description

The World Health Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations that is concerned with international public health. It was established on 7 April 1948, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

Purpose of consultancy

To provide technical expertise to the project of the Emerging Technologies, research Prioritization and Support (EPS) unit in relation to WHO Global Health Foresight. This work will advance the implementation of the corresponding workplan of the project.

Deliverables
  • Contribute to the finalization, official launch and dissemination of the WHO global health foresight horizon scan exercise report (output 1).
    • Coordination of steps for clearance, publication and launch of the publication and related products.
    • Review and editing of publication and related products.
    • Contribute to the development of the dissemination plan and its subsequent implementation.
  • Coordinate the preparation and finalization of up-to-date information for publication on WHO Foresight webpage, ensuring well laid out information, with content relevant visuals/audio files (output 2).
    • Identify topics for news features and other relevant topics for regular updates (at least one per quarter).
  • Facilitate the activities for WHO Global Health foresight function participation related to outreach event(s), stakeholders coordination (output 3).
    • Agenda preparation, development of concept notes, scheduling of meetings, preparation of background information, meeting notes, advocacy material preparation.
    • Onsite support during meetings and workshops (facilitate attendees registration, coordination among speakers, meeting notes preparation, etc.).
  • Liaise with the Science Council Secretariat to identify opportunities for collaboration and cooperation.
  • Provide programme support, including example scenarios planning (coordination with external participants, relevant internal technical departments in WHO etc.) (output 4).
Qualifications, experience, skills and languages

Educational Qualifications :

Essential:

  • University degree in public health, sciences or social sciences, health system and health policy, or a related field.

Desirable:

  • Advanced university degree in public health, sciences or social sciences, or other fields.

Experience

Essential:

  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience in emerging technologies, foresight or global health innovation, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience at international level.

Desirable:

  • Work experience in international organizations.
  • Work experience related to the development of technical information products, advocacy materials.
  • Experience in implementation of Foresight exercises with global stakeholders.
