Job Description
The National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) is a state corporation established under the Industrial Training (Amendment) Act of 2011. The Authority has five industrial training centres spread across the country .NITA perpetuates industrial training in Kenya that dates back to 1925 when the native industrial training depots (NITDS) were introduced by the colonial Government. In 1959, Industrial training ordinance was enacted to regulate apprentice and indentured learners in industry. In 1963, the Industrial Training ordinance became the Industrial Training ACT, Cap 237 which was amended in 1971 to establish the training levy fund and the National Industrial Training council (NITC) which had Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) as its secretariat.

Responsibilities
The Senior Industrial Training Officer – Assessment and Certification is responsible for the following;
- Supervising the identification of assessment tools including Moderation activities
- Coordinating the Competence Assessment and Trade Testing exercise;
- Coordinating inspection if the Industrial Training activities by inspectors;
- Coordinating Sensitization forums of employers on NITA functions;
- Developing departmental work plans and budgets;
- Ensuring adherence to quality assurance standards;
- Carrying out risk assessments, which involves analyzing risks as well as identification and;
- Assisting in conducting and scheduling effective training for staff in regard to Quality Management Systems.
Person Specifications
For appointment at this position, a candidate must have: –
- At least four (4) years relevant work experience in the Public Service or Private Sector;
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Mechatronics Engineering,Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Automotive, Civil Engineering, Building Economics, Renewable Energy, Beauty Therapy, Textile Engineering, Clothing/Apparel/Fashion & Design, Structural, Medical, Education, Architecture, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Curriculum Development any other occupational field or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Supervisory course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Be in possession of Instructor Training certificate of not less than four (4) weeks or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
- Proficiency in Computer Applications;
- Good communication skills;
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results;
- Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution.
