Job Description

A kiosk is an informal convenience store selling everyday household items. Known locally by their vernacular names e.g. Duka in Kenya, Spaza in South Africa, Kantemba in Zambia. kiosk-type retail outlets are the cornerstone of African retail, accounting for over 60% of all retail trade flows. Despite their importance, kiosk-type retail outlets face significant challenges, including high cost of stock and unreliable delivery. Our digital ordering and delivery platform – Kyosk, ensures that these retail outlets get access to stock at competitive prices and have them delivered directly to them. FMCGs find the traditional distribution chain to be inadequate as well, making it expensive for them to serve kiosk-type retail outlets, leading to high incidences of product stock-outs and lost sales opportunities. By providing FMCGs with good data visibility, we solve this major problem of theirs.

Role profile:

We are looking to bring on board an ambitious and commercially aware candidate as an Area Lead. The individual will be tasked with management of a specific region. He/she will be responsible for the execution of the uLima’s strategy in marketing, training, business performance, operations and Field Champions management.

  • Work collaboratively with the Operations Manager to spearhead revenue generation. Liaise with the Field Champion team to drive product penetration and uptake in the market including the formulation of effective sales and marketing strategies;
  • Lead the coordination of Field activities in collaborate with Operations Managers to guarantee operational efficiency;
  • Organize, and participate in stakeholder forums and meetings in your region, representing the interests of uLima therein;
  • Establish, maintain and grow relationships with existing and new farmers through recruiting and onboarding;
  • Coordinate with 3rd party logistics providers last mile & first mile logistics of inputs and outputs in your region;
  • Strive to improve farmer satisfaction through excellent customer service;
  • Identify and respond to farmer needs;
  • Keep a high level of knowledge about existing products and services, and learn about new products and services as they come in;
  • Develop weekly plan together with the Field Champions to ensure the set goals are met;
  • Follow up on farmer orders as necessary;
  • Anticipate the needs of farmers and address them accordingly;
  • Responsible for performance management of Field Champions;
  • Training of Field Champions;
  • Daily/weekly/monthly tracking and reporting on targets set for Field Champions;
  • Management of the whole Value Chain with courtesy and Finesse to deliver results;
  • Responsible for 100% targets allocated to him/her.
  • Degree education in Agribusiness;
  • Proficiency in word processing and excel Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Superior interpersonal skills;
  • Comfortable with mobile applications on a smart phone;
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
