RefugePoint was founded in 2005 to
provide lasting solutions for the world’s most vulnerable refugees. We work to
fill the critical and unmet needs of people affected by war and conflict that
have fallen through the net of humanitarian assistance, in particular women,
children and urban refugees.
Finance Associate will support the
Finance Officer to maintain accurate and efficient financial records and to
prepare timely financial reports.
The core responsibilities of this position are as follows:
Ensure efficient running of the petty
Day to day maintenance of the petty
cash, this includes: disbursement, reconciling and replenishing;
Ensure that petty cash funds are
physically secured and attended by an authorized person at all times.
Post petty cash transactions into
QuickBooks and complete the posting process;
Perform checks of the posting
process, ensuring that vouchers and other internal forms are duly signed,
attach supporting documents, spot errors, report on any omissions and suggest
ways to improve efficiency;
Ensure transactions are processed in
accordance with procedures and controls.
Assist with receivable and payable
Assist with bank reconciliations;
Ensure staff account for expense
advances in a timely manner;
Conduct expense advance
Review staff telephone bills
Documentation and Filing:
Chronologically file processed
Print out monthly reconciliation
reports for signing and filing;
Disburse monthly statutory deductions
and returns, including pension, withholding tax, NHIF, NSSF, PAYE within the
Archive and store files and other
documents in compliance with statutory requirements and in accordance with
procedures laid down.
Assist the finance team to prepare
for the year-end external audit.
Monthly Reports & Budgeting:
Assist the Finance Officer in
preparing reports and support the budgeting process.
Internal Spot Checks:
Assist the Finance Officer to conduct
internal spot checks.
Backstop for the Finance Officer;
Responsible for operating the bulk
Other duties as assigned
Minimum CPA II qualification.
Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS
Solid understanding of basic
bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles.
Degree in Finance, Accounting,
Business Administration or any other related field; is an added advantage.
Current Police Clearance Certificate.
How to Apply
The primary responsibility of the
Livelihoods Associate is to support the Livelihoods team in implementing
RefugePoint’s Urban Refugee Livelihoods Program in Nairobi. The key role for
this position will be monitoring and mentoring supported clients.
The Livelihoods Program is part of
RefugePoint’s broader stabilization and empowerment services, and the
successful candidate will work closely with other staff in the coordination of
holistic assistance. This position reports to the Livelihoods Officer.

Project implementation and
Participate in regular monitoring of
the supported beneficiaries, update their progress and emerging issues through
planned field visits;
Work closely with clients receiving
business grants to help them establish and run their businesses profitably;
provide business advice, and constructive coaching to clients;
Conduct mentorship to granted clients
to enhance success of their businesses;
Work closely with business community
monitors and provide monthly reports on businesses progress;
Maintain comprehensive, clear client
records in the database and/or in clients’ files;
Assist in compiling of all monitoring
information on a regular basis and documentation of lessons learned from field
visits and project activities;
Assist in developing appropriate
tools for use in monitoring and reporting on clients’ progress.
Direct service provision:
Identify and assess suitable refugees
to engage in Livelihoods activities according to RefugePoint’s standard
Support refugees to develop practical
small business plans, review business plans, and supporting disbursement of
Facilitate training for refugees in
basic business skills (bookkeeping, marketing, savings, etc.) according to
Follow up on disbursed cash grants
and ensure receipt of cash by clients through telephone calls or conducting
Help clients access new markets through
market linkage opportunities;
Actively participate in graduation
sessions for clients in collaboration with Social Workers;
Maintain established relationships
with external partners.

Degree in Business Administration,
Economics, Entrepreneurship or other related studies;
At least two years experience with
urban livelihoods or with vulnerable populations;
Experience in the use of computer and
office software packages (MS Word, MS Excel etc) and knowledge of spreadsheet
and database packages;
Ability to provide continuous input
to the organizations’ processes, implementation of new systems etc;
Strong business and analytical
Good English communication skills,
both oral and written;
Typing skills with a minimum speed of
Excellent command of the most common
methodologies to identify, assess, and monitor income generating activities
with a proven record of achievements;
Experience working with refugees;
A high degree of cultural sensitivity

Senior Officer, Resettlement
The primary responsibility of the
Interpreter is to provide, on as needed basis, operational support to the
Resettlement Unit by providing language support services for clients undergoing
case processing in the Urban Refugee Program.
Serve as communication liaison
between RefugePoint staff and clients to ensure a client-centred approach in

any assignments in the Resettlement Unit, including inter alia, intake
assessments, resettlement counseling services and post-processing follow up
interviews with RefugePoint;
Translate documents from target
refugee languages to the English language;
Support RefugePoint staff by relaying
accurate information including deadlines, instructions, questions, and other
communication to clients in their native language in addition to helping
clients communicate their concerns and questions to RefugePoint staff;
Aid RefugePoint staff in
understanding varied refugee cultural contexts;
Participate and support community
outreach/ home visits as and when required;
Attend regular training so as to
maintain and contribute to a culture of professionalism within the department
and organization as a whole;
Perform other relevant duties as
Must be fluent in English and one or
more native refugee languages;
2-3 years recent work experience as
an interpreter with a refugee NGO or Embassy;
Must hold a UNHCR mandate refugee
certificate and/or Government alien card;
Must have a minimum of secondary
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Education in linguistics or related
field and/or evidence of training in interpretation techniques is a plus;
Prior experience providing
interpretive services is strongly desired;
