ICT Officer (Infrastructure) – KPC Grade 6

Responsibilities

  • Design and test local area data and voice communication networks to meet the needs of the business and prepare specifications for implementation of new or enhanced networks.
  • Design, configure, and implement LAN/WAN hardware, software and ancillary services for network operating
  • Perform or provide technical guidance in the installation and configuration of network equipment and in resolving user or systems
  • Assist in and may perform router installations, router software upgrade and connections of site to Ethernet, Token Ring, Serial and Frame Relay
  • Maintain network security, resolve network operating problems and setup
  • Provide technical support to LAN/WAN administration, monitor WAN networks and regularly offer formal network training to staff and end-users on a need basis

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical engineering, or the relevant functional
  • field.
  • Post-graduate qualification in Information Technology if the first degree is not in any of the
  • Minimum four (4) years’ relevant
  • Certified A plus (A+), N+ and Microsoft Platform is an added
  • ITIL and other Service Management Certification
  • Membership to a relevant professional
  • Demonstrated competence in work

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Good knowledge of structured cabling systems and supporting international
  • Experience in supporting one or more network operating systems: installing, administering and configuring two or more multi-protocol routers in multiple locations, trouble shooting, isolating and interpreting performance problems in a multiple
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to lead both technical and business level
  • Practical experience in security standards, tools and
  • Experience in deploying
  • Practical experience in network monitoring and management
  • Ability to deliver KPC’s articulated vision for change, and motivate staff to join change
  • Ability to maintain professional status and keep abreast with evolving trends through continuing professional education, especially in the area of petroleum
  • Ability to empower staff through coaching and counselling by emphasizing accountability and results oriented
