About Nova Pioneer

Nova Pioneer is a pan-African network of schools reimagining education to develop innovators and leaders who will shape the future. With campuses across Kenya and South Africa, we deliver rigorous, values-driven learning that equips students to thrive in a rapidly changing world. We are extending this impact through blended digital and in-person programmes that help young people thrive after school.

About the Role

We are looking for a senior content leader to hold the quality bar across everything learners see in Quest and Quest Ascend. You will own final editorial review and approval of all learner-facing content before it is published, set the standards the content team works to, and make the judgement calls on what is ready and what is not.

This is an oversight role, not a production role. Content designers and contracted writers produce the material; you decide whether it is good enough, explain why when it is not, and raise the team's capability over time. You will work closely with the PSSP Lead and the content team across Quest, Quest Ascend and Quest Launchpad.

  • Own the final editorial review and approval of all learner-facing content across Quest, Quest Ascend and Quest Launchpad before it is published.
  • Set and maintain the content standards covering learning outcomes, voice, reading level, format-specific word limits, factual accuracy and cultural relevance; document them as a style guide the team works to.
  • Review content for pedagogical soundness, ensuring every activity has a clear learning outcome, sensible progression and assessment that measures what it claims to measure.
  • Verify that content intended for AI scoring is structured so that automated evaluation returns accurate, specific and useful feedback to learners.
  • Coach the Content Designer, Content Owner and contracted writers through structured feedback that improves the writer, not only the piece in front of you.
  • Validate the accuracy of post-school, university-application and careers guidance against current requirements in Kenya and the other markets we serve.
  • Run a predictable review cadence with agreed turnaround times and clear approve-or-revise decisions, so that review never becomes the bottleneck in the content pipeline.
  • Audit published content periodically against learner completion data and feedback, and commission revisions where the evidence shows it is not working.
  • Advise the PSSP Lead on content strategy, sequencing and gaps across both products, and flag risks to quality early.
  • Senior experience in curriculum leadership, instructional design or editorial direction for education products, with a track record of setting standards that others work to.
  • Deep understanding of pedagogy, learning progression and assessment design, with the judgement to tell genuinely good content from content that merely looks finished.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and approving the work of others at volume, with feedback that is specific, actionable and developmental.
  • Excellent command of written English, editorial precision, and the discipline to hold a defined house style consistently across many contributors.
  • Familiarity with digital and blended learning formats, and a practical sense of how content behaves differently on a mobile product than on a page.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, managing a review queue to agreed turnaround times without day-to-day supervision.

CORE SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Nice-to-haves Experience in post-school transition, university applications, careers guidance or entrepreneurship education.
  • Experience reviewing AI-generated or AI-assisted learning content, with the judgement to see where automation helps and where it quietly degrades quality.
  • Working knowledge of the Kenyan secondary and tertiary landscape, including CBE pathways, KCSE and university placement.

SUCCESS MEASURES

  • All learner-facing content is reviewed and approved against a documented standard before publication.
  • A content style guide exists, is kept current, and the team works to it without needing individual direction on every piece.
  • Review turnaround keeps pace with production, so content ships on schedule and the pipeline does not stall at approval.
  • Content quality is visible in learner completion and feedback, and revisions can be traced to that evidence.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent communication, attention to detail and a collaborative approach to working with content designers, programme staff and product teams.
  • Commitment to youth safeguarding, learner privacy, accessible learning and the responsible use of AI.
  • Alignment with Nova Pioneer's mission to develop the next generation of African innovators and leaders.

Nova Pioneer will never request an application fee from candidates. If you are contacted with a request to pay a fee from someone claiming to be a Nova Pioneer Talent or Recruitment representative, please do not pay them and report it to us immediately on [email protected] or [email protected].
