Job Description

Overall Job Function

Reporting to the Senior Technical Officer – Drug Sensitive TB and Regional Support, and working closely with the Nairobi County Tuberculosis and Leprosy Coordinator (CTLC), the incumbent shall be responsible for coordinating the implementation and scale up of TB control activities in Nairobi County, in liaison with the NTLD-Program, and other USAID and CDC implementing partners. The support will include among others; active case finding, scale up of TB diagnostics including GeneXpert and Truenat, TB Preventive Therapy (TPT) scale up, quality improvement in TB control, childhood TB activities and documentation of best practices and lessons learned in the county.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in data analysis (routine and adhoc), preparation of programmatic and donor reports and interpretation of results using various statistical approaches or appropriate presentation formats for diverse target audience.
  • Design, develop, implement and manage health information management systems within the activity including TIBU system maintenance.
  • Plan, implement and facilitate data flow and management processes from the counties with targeted interventions for TB programming.
  • Support in the development, implementation, tracking and monitoring of the annual work plans for the activity and its partners.
  • Participate in review and revision of tools, follow up on tools requests, printing and implement a tools distribution database for the county and sub counties.
  • Maintenance of programmatic databases including lab and TraiNet to track all capacity building activities for health care workers conducted under USG funding.
  • Plan and coordinate county and sub county performance review meetings to enhance data quality and ownership at the county level.
  • Participate in data quality audit missions at the national and county levels.
  • Support counties to identify gaps and implement continuous quality improvement models as well as monitor TB quality improvement indicators.
  • Support the M&E Specialist in implementing strategies to increase TB data use and demand amongst C/SCTLCs, County Health Management Teams.
  • Implement innovative capacity building approaches/ forums for diverse health care worker cadres such as ECHO.

Person Specification

  • A bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Biostatistics, Statistics, Demography, Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Sciences or an equivalent academic qualification from a recognised institution.
  • Experience working with county governments and/or NTLD-Program will be an added advantage.
  • Understanding of health information management/reporting systems in Kenya especially TIBU and USAID/PEPFAR/GOK reporting systems.
  •  At least 5-7 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation of health related programs in Kenya.
  • Advanced skills in using MS excel, access, powerpoint and statistical software such as SPSS, STATA and ArcGIS.
  • Understanding of USAID reporting requirements.
  • Experience in conducting data quality audits/assessments.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and adhere to strict timelines/deadlines.
