Nursing Officer In-Charge

O verall Responsibility

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for all nursing and nursing-related functions at the Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, review, update, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures related to the unit.
• Manage day-to-day operations of the nursing unit and provide quality cost-effective care for the patient population.
• Provide supervision and strategic direction to all the members of the nursing department.
• Manage the departmental budget and develop cost containment strategies within the unit.
• In charge of performance management within the unit.
• Take the lead in managing quality improvement and patient safety programs within the facility.
• Facilitate learning opportunities to ensure the personal and professional growth of departmental staff.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary committees.
• Participate in the recruitment of the nursing staff.
• Take an active role in bedside nursing.
• Advise management on the best nursing practices.
• Play the link between the nursing unit and other departmental heads.
• Any other duty as may be assigned.

Job Requirements & Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
• Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices
• Good knowledge of the Kenyan Healthcare system.
• Excellent leadership & interpersonal skills.
